Toyota's sales jump 41.8%

Toyota reported its February sales in the U.S. rose 41.8% from a year earlier as its compact, midsize, hybrid, minivan and even large pickup models showed improvement.
Sales of the Sienna minivan more than doubled to 8,806, while the RAV4 crossovers was up 85%. Sales of the Prius hybrid surged 70% to 13,539, while demand for Camry and Corolla rose 64% and 52%, respectively.
“We feel good about the way 2011 has started,” said Bob Carter, Toyota division group vice president.
The only dark cloud was the luxury Lexus brand where sales were unchanged from a year earlier at 13,814. The youth-oriented Scion brand reported sales of 3,944, a 30% increase from a year earlier, led by a new tC sports coupe.
