Sunday, 6 March 2011
Renault has just unveiled the Renault ZOE concept at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The ZOE electric car which is 90% production ready is expected to go on sale starting from 2012. The ZOE Z.E. concept was first revealed in 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show – however the car was a not close to being ready for production and was more of a pre-cursor to the model we see today.
The Renault ZOE Preview concept is a zero emissions vehicle that comes with a 80 hp electric motor that can propel the car forward at up to 84 mph, while accelerating from naught to 62 mph in 8.1 seconds.
The ZOE concept is believed to be able to travel up to 99 miles on a single charge, which puts it in the same league as the Nissan Leaf which can go up to 100 miles on a single charge. The ZOE can charge up in as little as 6 to 8 hours – however, a special technology in the battery system does allow for the battery to charge upto 80 percent capacity in as little as 30 minutes. They also claim that a 10 minute quick recharge can get the car running for up to 37 miles.
On the interior, the Renault ZOE Preview comes fitted with impressive passenger comfort technologies that include a smart climate control system, that regulates the humidity for skin hydration. Also included is a toxicity sensor that monitors and maintains the air quality, and an electric system inside releases different scents that suits the driver’s needs. At 4.10 m (161 inches) in length, 1.788 m (70.4 inches) in width and 1.54 m (60.63 inches) in height the ZOE represents the future of next-gen mini-electric cars.
