2010 British Motor Show was also canceled - organizers haven't said if they intended to bring it back for 2014
Things are not looking good for the British Motor Show. It has now been canceled for the second time in a row as organizers have announced the 2012 show will not be taking place.
The 2010 British motor show didn't take place this summer either as it was canceled in 2009 at the height of the crisis that hit the automotive industry.
The biennial show is run by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), who announced the cancellation of the 2012 event after consulting with the UK auto industry.
"In recent years the show has played a less important role in influencing new car buyers and vehicle manufacturers are focusing their limited resources on events and activities that have a more direct impact on brand awareness and consumer decisions," said Paul Everitt, head of the SMMT, in the Autocar story.
Everitt did not say whether the SMMT would try to bring back the show for 2014.
