British Motor Show coming back in 2011

Sunday, 6 March 2011

Although the British Motor Show was cancelled for 2010, the organizer repeated it again that it will certainly return in the future and it still have schedules to run the event at Excel in London in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The halt to the 2010 show could not be avoided due to the current economic crisis that has hit the auto industry the hardest. The managing director of International Motor Industry Events (IMIE) Rob Mackenzie pointed out that when the show will return is going to be the decision of the rights holders of the events, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
They are looking forward to plan the 2011 show near the end of this year or early in 2010. It would afford enough time to prepare for the show, and if the economic climate would still not permit it, then they will still have enough leeway for the 2012 and 2013 shows, the dates for which are still actively held with Excel. The organizers also pointed out that running the show in 2012 during which the Olympic games will be held in London, would pose no real problem since the Motor show is set to run two months before then.
It could in fact work to the advantage of the show when people who are there for the Olympics would opt to visit that part of London just before the games. There is a big possibility that the format of the show will be overhauled, though. Because the show for 2010 is cancelled this will give the organizers enough time to contemplate what they really want in the show.
